Animation is acting – on paper. This is one of the reasons the first semester is packed with creating stories, characters/roles and the sharing of ideas in a “pitch”-format. The story has to be good and worth sharing for you to spend the time necessary to animate it on paper.

Naturally, good drawing skills and techniques are also required. We will take a look at character design, the creation of environments, how to use props in games and 3D modelling. We will start with some easy-to-use tools, and we will use photoshop and introduce Maya.

There will be classical art classes on drawing, gesture drawing and painting. We will play with animated GIFs and do modelling and stop-motion as well. And we will touch on shading, lighting and texturing in a game environment.

The aim is, for you as a student to get a feel for what is required if you want your life and career to move in this direction.
